A title-protected chiropractor is considered a healthcare professional within the meaning of the law and regulations on healthcare professionals. The professional title chiropractor may only be used by those who have completed training approved by Valvira and who have subsequently been registered in the central register of healthcare professionals, or Terhikki.

Chiropractor training is the most comprehensive specialist training in manual therapy and lasts five years.
